Touratech founder, Herbert Schwarz and his wife Ramona spent the fall and winter forming a team named “United People of Adventure”. Each one of the six team members comes from another continent, speaks a different language, has a varied cultural background along with a unique set of skills and talents and, of course, a different view and approach of the world. Together, this team of riders will explore the island nation of Madagascar on two-wheels for 10-days and the adventure will be documented in photos and video.
“Man or woman alike! We are different, yet the same … for we all share the same spirit of adventure, the same love and passion for adventure riding and traveling. Together we are strong!” said Ramona.

Episode 1
The United People of Adventure are exhausted. It’s 9pm, but the team arrived at dawn this morning, at 5:30AM, on a twin-engine turbo-prop commuter plane flying from Madagascar’s capital Antanarivo to Sambava, a modest town on the northeast coast. From there they took a two-hour bus ride south along the coast to Ocean Momo, a beachfront resort in Antalaha, where Touratech’s Herbert and Ramona Schwarz and the UPoA production team waited along with the motorcycles on which a ten-day adventure will shortly begin.
Perhaps the riders – some having been travelling for up to 30 hours – might have imagined a rest day. Instead, after a morning of bike inspection and packing they headed off for a shakedown ride. After 20km the riders ran into rain, the wet season clearly not yet fully over, and they ran into the locals (not literally) who have clearly never seen an expedition such as this. An unexpected meeting perhaps, but the Malagasy greeted the UPoA riders with enthusiasm and the broadest of smiles and loudest of cheers.
