80th Annual Cowbell EnduroNov 02, 2011
The 80th Annual Cowbell Enduro took place Sunday, October 23rd in the foothills of Whatcom County. Paul and Iain from Touratech-USA headed north to compete in this year's event, which offered riders a variety of trails that ranged from intermediate to very difficult.
The event organizers believe the Cowbell Enduro is the oldest continually run enduro in the United States. The Cowbell enduro was held in 1931 and it has been run every year since, even during WWII.
A legendary race here in the Northwest, the Cowbell Enduro has a reputation for featuring some of the most technical terrain of any Northwest enduro. From overgrown trails to clear cut fields with thigh high stumps to negotiate, the Cowbell is certainly not for the faint of heart.
Each year, the winner of the Cowbell Enduro gets their name added to the cowbell itself. The list of names is a who's who of enduro racers from the Northwest.
And while Iain and Paul's names are not embossed on the cowbell, they did finish 7th and 13th respecfully.
