I purchased the flap protector because the exhaust flap just looked too exposed for my liking. As for installation, be careful when trying to remove the original bolts that hold the exhaust flap (to be replaced with the longer Touratech bolts). The original bolts need heat to be removed, or you will bugger up the torx head. The inside bolt in particular is difficult to remove, as it is a little awkward to get a good purchase on the torx-head.

Very useful to have, and quite easy to attach. I had no problem removing the stock bolts. The Touratech bolts use a much smaller Torx head, for some reason.
