When riding an adventure touring bike like the V-Strom DL650 off-road, protection for the underside of your engine is critical. This skid plate from Touratech acts as armor for the bottom of your V-Strom, keeping it protected rock, stump, and debris impacts while riding off the pavement.
The V-Strom skid plate is constructed out of strong and lightweight aluminum alloy, and rubber mounted to the front of the DL650's engine so that no damage to engine case can occur.
Very easy to install. Comes with all necessary hardware and instructions. No modifications to motorcycle are necessary.

Installed the skid plate on my Wee Strom as soon as possible. I did not like how all of the road gunk was getting flung against the oil filter. Initial install was tedious because the rear mounting points were held in with 5lbs of factory locktite, but was still not bad. After changing the oil with it on, easy job! 4 bolts drop the plate and leves the vibration isolated bracketry on the bike. I am going to try and find stainless steel wing nuts for those bolts so I ont have to lay down to get a wrench on them. Overall, the plate is beefy and well constructed, like the look too. 5 stars Touratech! P.S. it fits perfectly level with the HT center stand.

I put this skid plate on my new 2012 V-Strom Adventure. The Adventure model comes with tubular guards that protect the tank & loop down in front of the engine. I had also added a centerstand before mounting the Touratech skid plate. No problemo. The skid plate fits fine with a center stand & Adventure model guards. Well made product. Instructions ain't great. Put the plate brackets on with the bike on the side stand. That's easier. Centerstand gets in the way if you don't retract it.
