ABOUT THE WABDR
The Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WABDR) is a scenic route across Washington State from Oregon to Canada through the Cascade Mountain Range. The 600-mile route follows a connection of mostly unpaved back roads that can be ridden on dual-sport and adventure motorcycles or driven in 4x4 and high-clearance 4WD vehicles. The route is usually snow-free July through September.
PROGRAM SYNOPSIS
When Bryce Stevens and Andrew Cull won the 2010 Overland Flag Competition for their proposal to create an off-road route across the state of Washington, they decided to make their vision a reality. In the spring of 2010, the two adventure motorcyclists from the Northwest began scouting and mapping a new off-road route across Washington State from Oregon to Canada for dual-sport adventure motorcycles and 4x4 vehicles.
By late August, the team included Tom Myers and Paul Guillien (Touratech-USA), Helge Pedersen (GlobeRiders) and Sterling Noren (Noren Films). The seven-day WABDR Overland Flag expedition was filmed with six motorcycles (BMW and KTM) and a support 4x4 vehicle.
ABOUT THE DVD
The WABDR DVD contains the full feature-length (one-hour) movie about the WABDR motorcycle expedition. It also includes additional bonus footage (one-hour) about the route, planning tips, sponsor videos and other movie trailers. GPS tracks for the entire WABDR route are also included on the DVD.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Sterling Noren is a filmmaker, world traveler and adventure motorcycle rider from Seattle, WA. His background includes twenty years of experience in the film and video industry as a writer, producer, director, cameraman and editor. During that time he has traveled to over 70 countries around the world on five continents. His motorcycle adventure film production credits include five GloeRiders documentaries, three television series and five instructional DVDs.

Well done! Even if you're not going to ride this route it's enjoyable and informative to watch - even for non-motorcycle riders (my wife loved it). I've ridden a good portion of this route in bits and pieces but not all at once. This DVD ties it all together and does most of the pre-ride planning for you. You can concentrate on The Ride. It also makes for a great base route that you could work off of and tweak as you like. Looking forward to giving it a workout next summer with some new-to-dualsport-riding buddies.

Great job on this video. I plan on doing the route someday and this was a great way to see what I could expect. I think I've watched it three or four times, and probably will again.

Full disclosure, I appear in this video. That said, while I was a rider, I didn't edit or put it together and I don't have any financial incentive. As far as explanatory routes go, this is an adventure in a box. You get both the GPS tracks and detailed information on riding the route, detailed information on what you will encounter, and tricks for camping and riding through Washington State. I haven't seen a comprehensive riding plan on DVD yet the gives you the information and is fun to watch. Highly recommended.

Quality DVD. If you are planning to attempt the WABDR, definitely get the DVD. On the flip side, in retrospect, it's clear that they were still feeling things out on this trip and hadn't hit their stride yet. So if you are not looking for any particular BDR and just want a flavor of what a BDR is in general and why it exists, I'd recommend the COBDR DVD. It is a more interesting DVD and would (in my opinion) be more effective in, for instance, sealing the deal with the wife on a BDR trip.
