Description
Touratech Crash Bars offer the most protection for your BMW F800GS or F650GS twin because they mount to the steel chassis of the motorcycle rather than the engine. Most other crash bars take the easy way and mount directly to the engine which transfers impact to the very thing it should be protecting... your engine!

The compact and narrow design of the Touratech crash bars maximize manueverability when off road or traveling in the backcountry. The heavy duty 1" (25mm) diameter steel tubing and tig welded construction offers superior strength and maximum protection.
Touratech crash bars were the choice of BMW Motorrad when they outfitted (50) F800GS motorcycles for the GS Trophy competition in Africa. The Touratech Crash Bars delivered 100% protection with all (50) motorcycles making it to the finish, despite the difficult terrain the bikes were tested in.
Touratech crash bars are designed to allow routine maintenance to the F800GS or F650GS twin without removing the bars.

INSTALLATION NOTES: The left side crashbar is very easy to install. The right side is more involved because it attaches to the steel frame at the backside of the right footpeg. Disassembly of the brake pedal pivot, and other parts in that area is required, as well as loosening the exhaust catalytic converter mounting to ease access to the area.

Coming from a F650GS to a F800GS has a bit of a learning curve. Tipping the bike over is going to happen as hard as we try to not let it and having crash bars that protect the engine as well as the sides, are a must. The Touratech F800GS crash bars and extension that I put on my bike were very easy to install and can take a beating over and over. I feel very confident with having these crash bars on that my bike is being well protected against any major damage.

I purchased and installed the Touratech crash bars about a year ago. The installation was a bit of work but not too difficult to perform. Since then, they have performed as expected - saving my bike's plastic bits on the front end when I've tipped over a couple of times. I'm sure I will fall over again and its nice to know that this piece of gear is there to do its job when that happens. The crash bars are very rugged and mount in sensible places on the motorcycle frame. They also act as a good place to mount helmet cameras for additional shots.

I have abused my F800GS in rocky terrain, single track and rutty roads. My Touratech crash bars have taken a beating but done their job keeping my bike in one piece. I chose these bars because they bolt directly to the chassis rather than the engine. This has proven to be a wise choice. I found their installation video very helpful since there are a few tricks to make the install easier.
