Garmin Montana & Locking Mount Attached to Windshield Bar

Brief video shows the Garmin Montana and Touratech Locking mount attached to the Yamaha Super Tenere Windshield adjustment bracket.

Touratech developed this windscreen adjustment design in 2005 for their Desierto fairings. This method was tested on the YAMAHA Super Tenere when the bike was released in 2010 and resulted in increased comfort for the rider. The ingenious and simple arrangement of hand-tightened knobs allows infinite windscreen adjustments. For example you might place the windscreen upward and forward for longer trips. Moving the screen forward allows some air to come in below the windscreen, smoothing the turbulence around the rider's head noticably. In this way your motorcycle behaves as if it has a larger windscreen, without disturbing the appearance of the bike.

As an added bonus, our design includes a GPS mounting bar to position your Touratech GPS mount over the motorcycle's gauges in the line-of-sight.

I am a tall rider 6" 4" and this will make all the difference. The install was easy enough and it is well constructed. I feel the price is a bit high but there is no shortage of quality in this product at all.

The provided windshield adjustment knobs are absolutely worthless. You cannot get enough clamping force to keep the windshield locked into position, especially if going off-road (nothing rough either), even if using pliers to tighten them. A by-product of this is they will vibrate loose and fall off. I ended up replacing the provided hardware with 1/4" stainless-steel carriage bolts, washers and lock washers all secured by large 4-finger knobs. On the plus side, the windshield adjustment range is fine and the adjustable height GPS bar allows you to mount your GPS in a great position.

Agree with Steve S. I lost bolts while doing the UT back country. Carriage bolts and knobs solved the problem.

So far I have not had any of the problems the other riders describe with the adjustment knobs. About the bracket, I found it very useful and provides a good range of adjustability. Also, it helps with the problem of turbulence created by wind vortices over the helmet. To reduce it even further I had to laser-cut a slot in the OEM windscreen as they do in Cal Sci and the result is excellent, smooth sailing since as the aerodynamics seem to be right. The GPS mount is definitely a plus. The factory in Germany messed-up the content of the box and instead of receiving the specified left and right side brackets they packet two lefts, which was a bummer as I had to wait for a replacement from their Seattle branch. Thank you guys for good customer support!
