The Cockpit Cover 2 covers the void around the R1200GS instruments. In addition, it features TWO sockets, a BMW socket aux. outlet AND a Cigarette Lighter outlet. For example, mobile phones or GPS units can thus be plugged into the cockpit directly without having to run annoying cables around the motorbike.
Because of the 15A fused DIRECT battery connection, these units can be charged & powered even when ignition is off. The outlet can also be used for charging the motorycle battery without special BMW battery charger. 044-0560 can also be used for all electric tire pumps (like 070-0289 for example) that require a minimum of 10Amps. The stock R1200GS factory accessory outlet is controlled by the CANbus system, which can shut off after one minute, also limits the current to 5A. Factory BMW outlet is not sufficient to operate a tire pump, for example.
This black cover is made from powder-coated aluminium and includes stainless steel mounting. It fits perfectly. The unit can be fitted alone or in conjunction with the Cockpit Cover 1 , item number 044-0552. Does NOT fit with 040-0663.Fits GS and Adventure
