Not only does this cockpit cover from Touratech clean up the look of your BMW R1200GS's gauges and cockpit area, it also provides you with two convenient power outlets for charging electronics devices, running air pumps, or powering your heated riding gear.
Installed, this cockpit cover seals in the back-side of your BMW's instruments, creating a clean look with its black powdercoated finish. Flush mounted on the cover are two outlets. One is a standard car sized 'cigarette lighter' size 12-volt outlet, the other is a smaller 'BMW' size outlet. Both come complete with wiring and a fuse, and can handle the load of a tire pump or heated gear.
Because of the 15A fused DIRECT battery connection, these units can be charged & powered even when ignition is off. The outlets can also be used for charging the motorycle battery without special BMW battery charger. The stock R1200GS factory accessory outlet is controlled by the CANbus system, which can shut off after one minute, also limits the current to 5A. Factory BMW outlet is not sufficient to operate a tire pump, for example.
NOTE: This cockpit cover is designed specifically to fit with our 040-0667 & 040-0663 GPS mounting bars. If you do not have either of these bars, and do not plan on adding one in the future, then please order cockpit cover 044-0560, 044-0563, 044-0561, or 044-0562.
