Radiator Guards Video

This brief video explains the features and benefits of the Touratech radiator guards for the water cooled BMW R1200GS.

A rock thrown up into your BMW's radiator  from another vehicle or motorcycle can be a trip ending event if you don't have the proper protection for your GS.  The Touratech stainless steel radiator guards for the BMW R1200GS will protect your vulnerable radiators from impacts that can damage one of the most vital components of your GS's engine.

These stainless guards are laser cut to exacting standards and feature louvered fins with air-flow ports that have been engineered to deliver the maximum volume of air to the cooling system on your water-cooled BMW R1200GS or GSA.

NOTE: Please be sure to select your motorcycle's year from the drop-down menu above before ordering.

Just ordered these after having all my radiator fluid leak out on my 2014 GSW after having the left set of fins hit by a small rock. Funny thing is, there was nothing around me when it happened--no 18 wheeler to blame, no car passing me. Just some small stone that must have been kicked up by the front tire. Hit across to veins on the fins. Didn't even hear it happen, just noticed blueish liquid running up the tank and when I stopped there was steam all over as the fluid leaked on the exhaust. Btw, the bike will NOT cool without the radiator. I was riding in 55 degree weather and the engine temp was 230 degrees at 60MPH when I pulled over. I learned that you lose the radiator and it's pretty much game over.

The guards in black SS look great, are well made and robust, and should be effective. Fitting the guards to the somewhat flexible black plastic frame is not real difficult, although Touratech's "Ikea like" instructions leave something to be desired. The zip ties don't really fit well on the curved surfaces of the frame and adequately secure the guards without drilling (for the first tie) and grinding a small slot in the tab (for the second tie). Seems like Touratech should mention that - and it wouldn't hurt to use actual words instead of just pictures (that for some reason are reversed on the page, i.e., right guard shown on the left side of the page and vice versa).

I ordered them through my local BMW shop and installed them on my 2014 R1200GS Adventure with little effort. I can see how some may think the directions are bland so try not to think so hard and it will make sense.
