If I'm riding alone, I definitely prefer to keep my SPOT unit strapped to myself so if I'm thrown from the bike I always have access to it. This RAM mount is great though when I'm riding with a group, which is the majority of the time. I have easy access to the unit on my handlebars, and I always know it has good reception.
