  • Synopsis

For the F650 GS-A, the low fender uses the original fork brace bolts.

For the F650 GS-Dakar, the low fender uses longer fork brace bolts and longer cylindrical spacers.

For 2002, the fork brace casting was changed by BMW, so an additional flat spacer must be used. (See photo below).

    Mounting Instructions
    Low Mudguard – 040-0235

    Parts List:
    1x Low mudguard
    4x 25mm Spacer
    4x 25mm-longer Allen screws
1x flat spacer (for 2002 fork brace)

Mounting; F650GS-A (using original screws and spacers)

It is not necessary to remove the front wheel.
For F650GS-A, the mudguard fits directly under the fork brace, with original screws and spacers. Undo the nut from the left hand rear screw, and remove the brake pipe holder. Next undo the four screws and remove the fork brace. Fit the mudguard onto the original spacers using the original screws.

For 2001: Place the fork brace directly ontop of the mudguard, the flat spacer is not necessary.

For 2002 and newer: Place the flat plate spacer ontop of the mudguard, then the fork brace ontop of the flat plate spacer.

Tighten to 21Nm. Refit the brake pipe holder and nut.

    Mounting – F650GS- Dakar

The mudguard fits in similar fashion, but it must be raised to clear the 21" wheel. Use the longer screws and spacers for 21" wheel.

For 2001: Place the fork brace directly ontop of the mudguard, the flat spacer is not necessary. Replace the original short spacers and bolts with the longer set provided.

For 2002 and newer: Place the flat plate spacer ontop of the mudguard, then the fork brace ontop of the flat plate spacer. Replace the original short spacers and bolts with the longer set provided.

Tighten to 21Nm. Refit the brake pipe holder and nut.

Hardware pack for 040-0235. Flat spacer is necessary on 2002 and newer GS. It is not used for 2001 F650GS-A and GS-Dakar.
