Brake Lever Relocation Kit

(09/90 and older)



INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:


1. Removal of Rear Wheel

Place motorcycle on centerstand. Secure motorcycle from tipping by supporting it at the exhaust collector. Remove the wing nut at the brake cable and remove the cable out of the brake lever. Put into first gear and loosen 4 bolts of rear wheel. Remove rear wheel.

2. Exchange of Brake Lever

Remove the M6 allen bolt from the brake lever and pull the lever off. Install the included brake lever by leaning it forward at an approximate 45 degree angle. Attach the lever with the M6 allen bolt.

3. Wheel Assembly
Place the wheel onto the final drive and hand tighten the 4 bolts .

4. Brake Cable Mount Assembly
Install the included brake cable mount to the paralever brake cable mount using the M8 allen bolt, spacer and washer (the HPN stamp should be readable from above and the included brake cable mount should be pointing upward in back at a 45 degree angle).

5. Brake Cable Holder Assembly
Remove the dust boot from the brake cable. Slide the cable holder (see enclosed diagram) over the brake cable. The nipple pointing to the footlever should be lying parallel in the brake cable frame mounting. After positioning the holder, drill hole (5.5 mm) in frame (passenger footpeg mount). Fasten the brake cable holder with enclosed M5x10 bolt.

6. Brake Cable Assembly

Lossen protective tubing carefully and pull back to thread end of cable. Slide the dust boot back on the cable. Slide enclosed tubing over thread end and push the small opening of the dust boot over it. Attach and adjust the brake with the wing nut to the lever. The lever should be at a right angle with the brake cable when braking! If necessary, correct this by leaning the brake lever forwards or backwards.

7. Rear Wheel
Tighten the four bolts on the wheel with prescribed torque (105MN or 76 ft. lbs).
